Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership for Youth
HEMA Idea project is a small scale partnership between VisMedNet, Heritage Malta and Nature Education.
The objectives of the project are to :
This project will engage youths in the implementation of a consultation process on how local/museums can gain more relevance within the local community. The consultation process will lead to the development and piloting of ideas for experimentations built on the ideation started in the community consultations.
This project will look to target two youth and one horizontal priority highlighted in the above sections. The objectives mentioned here will look to directly target these priorities.
The project focuses on civic engagement and participation and this will be targeted through the youth-led community consultation that will be implemented as the first stage of this project. This though, will first come from a community consultation activity, where the youths, in coordination with group leaders from VisMedNet and Nature Education, engage with the local community to understand what can be achieved to make heritage sites more attractive.
This community consultation aspect of this project will also be in line with one of the youth priorities tied with having more active participation. The concept here is that youths themselves will be involved in the gathering of information from the public and have them participate directly in society.
The two groups of youths will implement two experiments (1 for Malta and 1 for Italy) built on ideas that will come about the community consultation that is held in each country, and on virtual meetings that will be held between the two sets of youths from Malta and Italy. The development of these experiments will provide the participants with an entrepreneurial spirit that can significantly impact their growth.
The youths will lead community consultations with those most vulnerable and therefore ensuring that the aspect of product development is the most inclusive ever. Its part of the background objective of the project to support identity and a sense of belonging to those who need it most.
Another background objective is the higher sustainability of museums through local engagement.
